I am a licensed acupuncturist in the state of California with a clinical Doctorate degree and a Master’s of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine. I practice traditional Chinese Medicine, which includes acupuncture, herbal medicine, tui na (manipulative massage) as well as cupping and moxibustion.
I have a background in Science Medicine and graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Anthropology which I obtained after studying pre-medicine courses and deciding that I wanted to pursue a different approach to healing. I subsequently attended a four year Master’s program for Chinese Medicine, which opened my eyes to the four thousand year old medicine that has more than withstood the test of time. After receiving my license for acupuncture in California, I studied in Shanghai, China for 7 months, in various hospitals, and specialized in various areas of medicine. I completed my clinical Doctorate, specializing in Women’s Health and Pain Management in 2010 and spent some more clinical hours at Shanghai University Hospital.
My practice and internship ranged from tui na (Chinese medical massage), and traumatology (emergency medicine), to nephrology (kidneys), gynecology (women’s health), oncology (cancer), as well as pediatrics.
I am an avid believer in prevention and holistic healing as well as integrated healing. I feel that Western and Eastern Medicine can be complementary healing modalities and should not and cannot be mutually exclusive. I also feel that patients that take an active role in healing are much more responsive to any kind of treatment and advocate this sort of lifestyle in all of my patients. Most importantly, I feel that patients need to be informed and stay informed on all areas of health and life in general.
I see a large number of women for fertility and have very high success rates because we are working with the individual on so many levels. Recently, a 46 year old woman conceived and delivered a beautiful baby naturally after many failed IVF attempts. I really enjoy working with women through this difficult time.
In my spare time, I love practicing yoga, running, cooking, and urban homesteading. Update: I have two little ones after a long and arduous process and have no spare time right now but loving every moment as a mom!
I am currently on sabbatical but happy to do herbal or functional medicine consults.

I am a licensed acupuncturist in the state of California with a doctor degree of Acupuncture with Chinese Herbal Medicine Specialization(DAcCHM). I was an assistant physician in China and have been practicing TCM since 2003. I’ve also been trained professionally in yoga and massage, having a diploma of Professional Herbal Dietary Therapy Specialist. Those experiences greatly expanded my knowledge and opened my mind, and empowered me to give suitable dietary and exercise recommendations according to my patients’ specific health condition. I am good at combining acupuncture, Chinese medicinal herbs, and other modalities/methods in treating various health conditions, including internal medicine, soft tissue injuries, gynecology and pediatrics.
In my free time, I like reading, cooking and watching all of the birds we have in our backyard.

Beth Bouffard has been studying and practicing Asian medicine for nearly 20 years, the last nine of those as a Licensed Acupuncturist. She wanted to be a doctor from an early age and had a fascination with pregnancy, birth, and babies starting with the birth of her brother when she was five years old. Three years of pre-med courses in her undergraduate studies convinced Beth that systemic changes and preventative medicine were more interesting to her than medical school and equally powerful in creating health.
Following a love of cooking and her own sensitive digestive system, Beth found Asian medicine and was immediately hooked. She studied Shiatsu massage then worked as an intern at Wu’s Healing Center in San Francisco where she saw first hand the power of acupuncture, herbal medicine, and lifestyle changes in helping those on a fertility journey. From there it was an easy decision to go to school for a Masters of Chinese medicine.
Beth believes that all people at their core have a basic goodness that can be revealed more and more deeply through various healing modalities, including Chinese medicine. As people become more healthy they become better able to serve their communities and create a more just and loving world she wants to be part of.
When she is not studying or practicing Chinese medicine, you might find her cooking up community meals, dancing, hiking in the forest, jumping in the ocean, knitting, or playing with babies, goats, or baby goats.
